We have developed a scalable, multipurpose system for production of human therapeutic proteins that provides us with a tremendous cost advantage. Our first product is factor IX for the treatment of hemophilia B. This is currently an underserved $1.4 billion market. Only about 25% of the worlds patients are adequately treated due to limitations of cost and supply. Our product can be produced and sold for about 20% of the cost of current recombinant factor IX. For comparison, the entire yearly supply of recombinant factor IX is about 2.6 kg, produced in an animal cell line in multiple 2000L batches. Our human cell line could produce 2.6 kg in a 100L culture in six months. Our system can be used to produce large quantities of essentially any protein. Cell Machines has intellectual property protecting the cells and the system. We expect to follow factor IX with several other proteins such as factor VIII for hemophilia A and alpha-1-antitrypsin for COPD.
