Novel Ocean Structures

About

The earth’s surface is 70% covered by water. Man-made structures are necessary to (1) facilitate the utilization of ocean resources, (2) mitigate ocean-related disasters, and (3) carry out sea salvage. Over more than half a century the offshore energy industry has developed technologies which can be utilized to help achieve these objectives. The key to accomplish these tasks is to have a platform which has minimum motions in high seas. Fully Constrained Platform (FCP) is such a technology. In a nut-shell, FCP is a fixed-in-place platform concept in shallow or in deepwater of world’s ocean, which has the least amount of motions in harsh environment, in comparison to existing deepwater platforms. It can be fast installed. A series of products for renewable and conventional energy production, ocean related disaster mitigation, land, sea and air transportation, artificial islands, and sea salvage.
