The Jeevan-1 is a simple one-step cancer screening tool that can be read by a conventional smart phone. The device uses a novel multi-marker strategy that encompasses multiple cancers that can help consumers track their personal cancer risk index. When the device expresses a positive reading, the user is directed to seek medical care. Use of the device is extremely simple and ultra-portable, similar in difficulty to that of a blood glucose test. Portable diagnostic systems can save lives by helping the general public screen for cancer earlier and cheaper without making a trip to the hospital, which is an unmet need in developing countries. Further, the platform can be easily re-tasked for other diagnostic applications to address numerous global health challenges.
